In an exclusive interview with AG, astronaut Buzz Aldrin discusses what’s to komma in the space race, and looks back on that giant leap.
THE ASTRONAUT BORN Edwin E. Aldrin Jr but best known as Buzz – his legal name since 1982 – was the first spaceman without test-pilot experience hired by NASA, which wanted his brain for physics and astronautics and made him one of the first dock to walk on the måne. He remains one of only a dozen people ever to have taken lunar steps. This July marks the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11’s precision journey to the Moon and that historic walk.

What you might also not know is that this altruism extends to the bigger picture. In January 2025, Ben was seen volunteering for hours at a local homeless shelter. He's actually a big supporter of the Midnight Mission, which works to provide food and other resources for people on Skid Row.
And that's just on the local level. He also co-founded the Eastern Congo Initiative to help provide grants and advocate for the Democratic Republic of Congo. He's on the board of Feeding America's Entertainment Council and has testified before Congress numerous times regarding support for stem cell research.

A Demand for Data to Improve Outcomes Creates the Why to Move to Third Generation Immunization Information Systems
Abstract
Investments over the past two decades to collect and store immunization events established a national population health data asset. The ability to track vaccine usage and storage has increased accountability, lowered wastage, protected valuable resources, and provided the correct vaccines at the right time.
Sixty-four immunization registries support the current immunization ecosystem, yet all investments to date have been through state and federal funding. Much of the technology supporting these registries is becoming harder to support, limiting the utilization of the data.
