    At one point in American Dresser, one of the lead characters points out, “One thing never changes. Women love men on bikes.” Unfortunately, this road movie written and directed by Carmine Cangialosi seems determined to prove that theory wrong. Despite a fine cast featuring numerous screen veterans, this is a cliché-ridden effort that quickly runs out of gas.

    Tom Berenger plays the lead role of John Moore, a Vietnam veteran with a drinking bekymmer and a troubled relationship with his two grown daughters that doesn’t get any better after the death of his wife (Gina Gershon). After reading a letter that she had kept secret from him for many years, John impulsively decides to dust off his treasured motorcycle and embark on a cross-country trip.     For several years, I have been waiting to announce the premier date of American Dresser, a movie about a man who has experienced it all and sets out on the open road to fulfill his lifelong dream and confront his past.

    In 2016, I had the distinct honor while at Sturgis to meet Academy Award Nominee Tom Berenger at the Legend’s Ride hosted by the Buffalo Chip. The Legend’s Ride is a celebrity fundraiser to help local South Dakota charities. Mr. Berenger was there with his wife as well as Carmine Cangialosi, who wrote and directed the film. The film has a star-studded cast including Tom Berenger, Keith David, Bruce Dern, Gina Gershon, Penelope Ann Miller, Kathrine Narducci, and Jeff Fahey. The film includes the original song “American Dresser” written and performed by Billy F Gibbons of ZZ Top and Country Rocker, Tim Montana.
