Adrian fisher guitarist wanted

  • Adrian Fisher was fired by Ron & Russell Mael shortly after the recordings of "Propaganda" due to the fact that he was too prominent in his opinion and wanted.
  • Adrian Fisher (we called him Ady) came to mind we were musical friends from school and beyond.
  • A fan's recollections of meeting and playing with Adrian at around the same time as this interview, in Thailand.
  • Adrian responded in 1997 to Finnish fan Petteri Aro, who sent him a pile of questions by post:

    “Dear Petteri

Sorry for the delay but have been away for a while. A long and unwanted journey. I was very amused on a lot of Martin’s stuff i.e. the ramblings of good old Dink on the phone, and if you want to send a copy to MG, it’s OK.

Q Did Island Records send you to the Sparks audition, or was it by chance that you turned up?

No, by chance, my brother made me go.

Q What do you remember from your first meeting with Sparks?

Ron looking a lot like Frank Zappa and playing r’n’b.

Q What do you recall from the audition?

I don’t really remember except the atmosphere was cold, and everybody seemed edgy.

Q How were the personal relationships at that time?

Yeah, not good. OK. inom thought Ron and Russ were real prats and still do, Martin was always well turned out and for a while took it seriously (soon wore off). Didn’t pay much attention to Dink, just

My son loves anything to do with rock music. He's teaching himself to play the guitar and keyboard. Only rock band or instructional music books are brought home on our library visits. He hangs out at the magazine section and immerses himself in rock magazines until I'm done grocery shopping. His Christmas wish list consisted of nothing more than guitar slides, rock posters, guitar picks and rock shirts. So, when I came across this little story, I couldn't help but think of him. 11 year old Aidan Fisher headed out to a Steel Panther hard rock concert with his dad in Kansas City last month carrying this sign...

It was directed at the band's guitarist, Satchel. On their way to the concert with sign in hand, heading down the elevator in their Kansas City hotel, Aidan was shocked to see Satchel walk through

I was thinking of the past...And Adrian Fisher (we called him Ady) came to mind...we were musical friends from school and beyond.
He played gitarr and helped me to learn the ropes as a 15 year-old aspiring Clapton and we had many jams together...Later he became a bit of a Rock star...most famous for his gitarr on the Sparks hit 'This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us' (a no.2 top ten single in 1974) and the album 'Kimono My House'...He had other success too...with Boxer ... see below.

inom didn't see him for many years...

He turned up at a local gig The O T Band were playing...very drunk...I let him play a number but he was terrible...At the end of the set he asked 'How did you learn all of those chords ?'...I took it as a compliment...I felt sad to see him so low and lost...It was the gods time I saw him. Later he seemed to find some peace far from the UK (see the BBC clip)...Sadly he passed many years ago...A Forest Hill schoolboy who made the big time
