    SSgt. Scott Sather entered the U.S. Air Force May 13, and completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Immediately after basic training he entered the Combat Control pipeline training course. Combat Controllers are the US Air Force Special Operation Command's ground combat forces. Their mission is to deploy into hostile territory to establish assault zones with air traffic control capabilities, provide terminal navigation aids, and the demolition and removal of obstacles. They are trained to carry out their mission via parachute, SCUBA, mountaineering, or any number of tactical insertions into enemy territory. Following the graduation of one of our nation’s most demanding military qualification courses, Sergeant Sather was assigned to the st Special Tactics Squadron (STS), United Kingdom.
