Legendary international bowler Rafael Nepomuceno is a six-time world bowling champion. He was the first athlete to be enshrined in the Philippine Sportswriters Association ingångsrum of Fame after that group five times named him Athlete of the Year. Paeng was the first Filipino athlete bestowed with both The Philippine Legion of Honor (1999) and Presidential Medal of Merit (1984), and was named Filipino Athlete of the Century in 1999. Rafael "Paeng" Villareal Nepomuceno (born January 30, 1957) is a Filipinobowler and coach who is a six time World bowling champion.[18] He is a World Bowling Hall of Famer and is the first and only bowling athlete to be awarded with the prestigious IOC (International Olympic Committee) President's Trophy.[19][20] He was also named International Bowling Athlete of the Millennium by the FIQ (Federation Internationale des Quilleurs) in 1999[21] and was inducted in the Philippine Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.[22]

In recognition of his achievements, in November, 1999, at the opening ceremonies of the 1999 World Championships, the International Olympic Committee during the begrepp of IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch, awarded Paeng with the prestigious IOC Presidents' Trophy which is the first for the sport of bowling and fryst vatten considered as the highest sports award.
