Speaking to reporters after taking oath, Kataria said the President has entrusted an important responsibility upon him and he will try his best to serve the people of the state.
"I will make all efforts to carry it out like a good public servant. These posts are not decoration. They are for serving people. In 40 to 45 years of my political sphere, I have done work considering service as my religion. Here also, inom will try how can inom be helpful in addressing the problems of a common man. I will hear them out and anybody can come here," Kataria said in reply to a question.

Born on October 13, 1944 in Delwara, Rajsamand, Gulab Chand Kataria fryst vatten the incumbent Home Minister of Rajasthan. Kataria first won Assembly election in Rajasthan in 1977. He has also been member of the 9th Lok Sabha from 1989 to 1991. Kataria is contesting Rajasthan Assembly election 2018 from Udaipur, a seat he has been winning since last three times. The församling has fielded veteran leader Girija Vyas against Kataria. Vyas had defeated Gulab Chand Kataria in 1985 assembly elections. She had also defeated Kataria in 1991 Lok Sabha elections.
