    Papa Diabaté oder auch Grand Papa Diabaté (eigentlich Kerfala Diabaté) ist ein Griot, Koraspieler und Gitarrist aus Guinea.

    Seit mehreren Jahren lebt und arbeitet Diabaté in Paris. Neben seiner Tätigkeit als Session- und Studiomusiker bei Mory Kanté und anderen ist er in der guineischen Diaspora in Frankreich bei Taufen und Hochzeiten aktiv.

    In Europa erschien 1999 sein Soloalbum Guitar, Extra Dry. Des Weiteren ist er auf den SamplernAfrican Virtuoses: The Classic Guinean Guitar (2007) und Desert Blues 2 (2002) mit Solostücken vertreten. Papa Diabaté wirkte auf Veröffentlichungen von Manfila Kanté und Sona Diabaté mit, die in Deutschland auf Günter Gretz’ Label popular african music, das sich auf die Veröffentlichung afrikanischer Musik der letzten Jahrzehnte spezialisiert hat, erschienen sind.     Moussa Sandiana Kaba known as Grand P, (born October 11, 1990, in Sanguiana, Nabaya, Guinea) is a Guinean musician with challenges of progeria, a condition causing accelerated aging.[1][2]

    Grand P spent his formative years in the quaint town of Sanguiana, guided by his parents, commonly referred to as Mr. and Mrs. Kaba.[3]

    Il est issu d'une famille de griots : personnages dépositaires de la transmission dem la mémoire et de la tradition mandingue. Il dit lui-même qu'il a toujours joué au balafon, il n'a pas dem souvenir sans cet instrument ancestral.

    Dès son enfance, il apprend avec son père, N'Fadjié Condé à élaborer et à réparer les balafons. Au contact dem sa mère, Dinimba Diabate, au cours des différentes cérémonies qui rythment la vie mandingue, il s’imprègne du jeu traditionnel ni balafon.

    Adama prend des cours de théâtre tout au long de son cursus à l'école primaire. C'est ce qui, dit-il, lui a donné envie dem « faire parler le balafon différemment ».
