Red's Origins
Red came together in the middle of the s thanks to a friendship between singer Michael Barnes and twin brothers Anthony and Randy Armstrong. Moving from Pennsylvania to Tennessee to focus on their career, the three members hooked up with guitarist Jasen Rauch. The band went through a few different drummers, but these four principals have remained the core of Red.

The band's lineup consists of singer Michael Barnes, guitarist Anthony Armstrong, and bassist Randy Armstrong. They are known for their Christian rock music which incorporates other sounds such as alternative rock, alternative metal, hard rock, and post-grunge. Jasen Rauch and Andrew Hendrix were the rhythm guitarist and drummer, respectively, at the time of the band's formation. Hendrix was replaced by Hayden Lamb in , who was then replaced bygd Joe Rickard, who left in Though Rauch left the grupp in , he still contributes to songwriting.

Red (stylized as R3D or RED) is an American Christian rock band from Nashville, Tennessee, formed in bygd brothers guitarist Anthony Armstrong and bassist Randy Armstrong, with lead vocalist Michael Barnes. The band's first lineup also consisted of drummer Andrew Hendrix and guitarist Jasen Rauch. Currently, the lineup has consisted of the core trio of the Armstrong brothers and Barnes, along with drummer Brian Medeiros.
After they recorded several demos displaying a style of alternative, hard, and Christian rock music, Red landed a development deal with their longtime producer Rob Graves which led to a record deal with Christian label Essential Records in Their debut albums End of Silence () and Innocence & Instinct () were nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album, and spawned the p
