    American aerospace engineer and entrepreneur Dennis Tito founds the firm in Santa Monica, California with three employees. On April 28, , Dennis became the world’s first space tourist as part of a visiting mission to the International Space Station.

    In a project first arranged by MirCorp, Dennis Tito was accepted by the Russian Federal Space Agency as a candidate for a commercial spaceflight. He began training in at the Yury Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre in Star City, Russia, but the mission was canceled when Russia allowed the Russian Mir station to crash to Earth. Later, through an arrangement with space tourism company Space Adventures, Ltd., Tito joined the Soyuz TM mission which launched on April 28, The Russian spacecraft docked automatically with the International Space Station two days later. Crewmembers of the Soyuz TM mission were commander Talgat Musabayev and flight engineer Yuri Baturin. Tito and his fellow cosmonauts spent 7 days, 22 hours, 4 minutes in space and orbited times around the Earth. During his time in space he performed several scientific experiments that would be useful for his company and business.
