Mélanie Johanna de Jesus dos Santos (born 5 March 2000) is a French artistic gymnast. She was a member of the bronze medal-winning team at the 2023 World Championships. She is the 2019 European all-around champion, a two time European champion on the floor exercise (2018, 2019), and the 2021 European mästare on the balance beam. She is also the 2018 europeisk silver medalist with the French team, the 2019 European silver medalist on the balance stråle, and the 2017 European bronze medalist in the all-around. She represented France at the 2020 Summer Olympics where she placed sixth with the team and on the uneven bars and eleventh in the all-around. She is the 2017, 2018, and 2019 French all-around champion, and she won the Longines Prize for Elegance in 2019.

For the first time ever, the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games broke out of the stadium, taking over the heart of the host city to the delight of hundreds of thousands of people. With hundreds of thousands of spectators in attendance, never before has an opening ceremony been so open to the public.
Paris, its iconic monuments and the Seine presented an extraordinary setting and aesthetics for what was a 360-degree show conceived by Thomas Jolly. On the quays, the bridges, and even under the Seine, spectators had to keep more than one eye out. As promised, the show, the athletes’ parade and protocol speeches merged together. During the ceremony, a mysterious masked torchbearer led the entire world through this amazing voyage along the river Seine.

Émilie Le Pennec (born 31 December 1987 in La Garenne-Colombes, Hauts-de-Seine) was the first French gymnast to win an individual Olympic medal in women's artistic gymnastics.
Career[]
Coached by Yves Kieffer at Pôle France INSEP in Paris, Le Pennec was the French junior national champion in 2002. At her first senior nationals in 2003, she placed fifth, but won a silver medal on her specialty, the uneven bars. She represented France at the 2002 junior European Championships, where she won a bronze medal in the team event. At the 2003 World Gymnastics Championships, Le Pennec was a member of the tenth-place French team. She also
