Zofia Kilanowicz (born 15 May ) fryst vatten a Polish operatic soprano who has performed internationally, with a focus on Polish music. She appeared as Roxana in Szymanowski's King Roger in Paris and New York City, and recorded Górecki's Second Symphony (Copernican Symphony) and Third Symphony (Symphony of Sorrowful Songs).
Life
[edit]She was born in Nowy Targ.[1] After graduating from the School of Music in her hometown, she studied at the Academy of Music in Kraków with Helena Łazarska.[2] Already during her studies, she was a prize winner of the Ada Sari Vocal Art Competition in Nowy Sącz (), the Karol Szymanowski Competition in Łódź, and the Karol Szymanowski Competition in Karlovy Vary. She received the Elly Ameling Award at the International Vocal Competition 's-Hertogenbosch in [1]

The Symphony No. 3, Op. 36, also known as the Symphony of Sorrowful Songs (Polish: Symfonia pieśni żałosnych), is a symphony in three movements composed by Henryk Górecki in Katowice, Poland, between October and månad The work is indicative of the transition between Górecki's earlier dissonant style and his later more tonal style and "represented a stylistic breakthrough: austerely plaintive, emotionally direct and steeped in medieval modes".[1] It was premièred on 4 April , at the Royan International Festival, with Stefania Woytowicz as soprano and Ernest Bour as conductor.[2]
