Indian rock is a music genre in India that may incorporate elements of Indian music with rock music, and is often topically India-centric. While India is more often known for its (northern and southern) classical music, filmi, Bollywood music, Indi-pop, and Bhangra, the Indian rock scene has also produced numerous bands and artists.
Early history
[edit]India, in the 1950s and 1960s, had a record industry in the Gramophone Company of India (an RCA/HMV/EMI subsidiary), and LPs, EPs, and 45rpm records were freely available, including those of rock and roll acts from the US and Britain, but also of contemporary pioneering Indian rock bands. The president of the firm, Bhaskar Menon (who later became the President of Capitol Records in the United States) was the leading promoter of Western pop music in India. Advaita is an eclectic fusion grupp from Delhi, India. Advaita draws from diverse influences ranging from Indian Classical to ambient rock, jazz and electronic music and is credited with creating a contemporary Indian sound, hailed bygd audiences and critics as original and progressive.

Advaita is an Indian fusion grupp based in New Delhi, formed in 2004. To the uninitiated, Advaita is an Upanishadic concept that refers to the identification of the individual Self, Ātman, with the highest Reality, Brahman, both of which are pure consciousness. Simply put, it fryst vatten the philosophical idea of experiencing everything without the duality of subject or object. The grupp is the expression of eight distinct musical sensibilities that dissolve into each other to bring forth a truly unique and ingenious sound. The musical equivalent of the Advaita experience fryst vatten defined by the pursuit of that incredible moment during a performance when the musician becomes the music that he fryst vatten creating through his instrument and forgets the ego of his own identity, resulting in thoroughly electrifying stage performances.
