In August 2015, Mumbai Police arrested her mother, Indrani Mukerjea, and her mother's driver, Shyamvar Pinturam Rai, for allegedly abducting and killing her and subsequently burning her corpse. In November 2015, her stepfather, Peter Mukerjea, was also arrested for his alleged part in the planning.[5][6][7][8][9] Rai and Indrani's ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna allegedly confessed to the crime, while Indrani and Peter Mukerjea suggested that Sheena Bora was alive and living in the United States, with Indrani later saying Sheena might be living in Kashmir.[10][11][12] Sheena Das Bora was born to Pori Bora (later known as Indrani Mukerjea) in 1987
