    Dr. Kayode Fayemi is the former Minister of Mines and Steel Development in the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria ( – ). He led the administration’s efforts in repositioning the Nigerian Mining sector to contribute optimally to the priority agendas of diversifying the country’s revenue base and creating jobs and economic opportunities for Nigerians. During his tenure as Minister, he concurrently served as Chairman of the governing board of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI). He was also the Governor of Ekiti State in Southwest Nigeria ( – ).

    Dr. Fayemi holds degrees in History and International Relations from the University of Lagos and Obafemi Awolowo University respectively, a Doctorate in War Studies from King’s College, University of London and is a Fellow of the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Ibadan.   • John Olukayode Fayemi Fayemi was born on 9th February in Ibadan, Oyo State however, he grew up in Ado Ekiti. Born to Chief Francis Falade Fayemi. of Isan-Ekiti in Oye Local Government of Ekiti State, Nigeria. His late father was a retired Ondo state Civil Servant in having served in the Western Region, Western State and Ondo State respectively for over twenty-five years. In retirement, he later served as Councilor and Chairman of the old Ekiti North Local Government between and , and subsequently, President, Customary Court covering parts of the Oye Division of old Ekiti North Local government.     John Olukayode FayemiCON ((Listen); born 9 February ) is a Nigerian politician who served as governor of Ekiti State from to [1][2] He previously served in office between and before losing re-election to Ayodele Fayose.[3] He was also the Minister of Solid Minerals Development in President Muhammadu Buhari's cabinet from 11 November to 30 May , when he resigned to contest for a second term as Governor of Ekiti State.[4] He is the pioneer president of the Forum of Regions of Africa (FORAF) since 9 September [5]
